Used to buy them in a tub from the nice tea lady who made them every CNY.<br><br>But the arrowroot is also served sliced steamed with Chinese sausage and wax duck. The stem part would be pointed at the next woman most likely to get preggers in the hope she'd get a boy (the Chinese are a bit untactfully graphic in this way).
